I'm Matthew Darge, a sculptor working with timber to create distinctive pieces inspired by wildlife, nature and the possibilities of the material itself.

My approach combines the immediacy of chainsaw carving with a considered eye for shape, texture, detail and proportion.

I enjoy working with the natural character of the wood, allowing its grain and form to influence the finished sculpture rather than forcing every piece into the same mould.

Whether creating a detailed wildlife study or a substantial statement piece for a garden, my aim is always the same: to make something individual, expressive and enduring.
